No need to look for a parking spot at Pocket Park 1, as visitors are welcome to drive their cars right onto the sand (entry fee per vehicle is $15). The chilled-out atmosphere here makes it one of the preferred beaches for simply lounging in a beach chair by the water. Dogs are welcome, as long as they’re on a leash.
Pocket Park 1 is located at 3790 7/12 Mile Road, conveniently near other Galveston attractions, like the 61st Street Fishing Pier, Schlitterbahn Waterpark, or Moody Gardens.
For more information visit Pocket Park 1.
Down at 3005 9 Mile Road you’ll find Pocket Park 2 beach. Here, cars must park in the paved parking area, but entry is free. Go for a swim, build sandcastles, and throw around a frisbee, and conveniently use the on-site showers at the end of the day. Beach umbrellas and chairs can be rented, and restrooms are available too, making it a preferred beach for families.
If you don’t feel like packing the picnic basket or cooler, head to the Tipsy Turtle Seaside Bar & Grill for a snack. Try one of their appetizing share plates, or a juicy burger with all the fixings. They also have a great kids menu.
For more information visit Pocket Park 2.
You'll be happy to know that the Tipsy Turtle's patio is right on the beach! It's a perfect spot to sit back with a cold drink and watch the sun go down after a day of playing in the waves. The Tipsy Turtle is conveniently located behind the Holiday Inn Club Vacations Galveston Beach Resorts on Termini-San Luis Pass Road. There is free parking.
