Visit one of Galveston, TX's beautiful beaches along the 32 miles of Gulf of Mexico coastline, including Stewart Beach, East Beach, Galveston Island State Park, and more.
Whether you are a family in search of gentle waves, a group of friends looking for a good time or an outdoor recreation enthusiast, Galveston has a beach for you.
Located at the far eastern tip of the island, East Beach is home to a pavilion, boardwalk and entertainment stage as well as restrooms, showers, chair and umbrella rentals, children's playground, concessions and other amenities. Unlike most of Galveston’s beaches, alcohol is permitted at East Beach.
Stewart Beach is a great option for families, offering a whole range of amenities, including showers, lifeguards, chair and umbrella rentals, a playground and even helicopter tours!
Soaking up some "vitamin sea" may be entertaining enough, but consider attending a special event that takes place along Galveston’s beaches. Every summer at the AIA Sandcastle Competition, you can browse extravagant sand sculptures along East Beach and see who wins the coveted Golden Bucket Award.
Other beach events include the Galveston Family Beach Challenge at Stewart Beach, Ohana Surf Dog Competition at the Seawall beach, and many others. For a list of more outdoor events, check out the event listing page here.
