ABOUT CHEF MEGAN WALKER

Growing up in New England, Chef Megan Walker learned to love the local sports teams and culinary cuisines at a young age. Whether it was Italian food from the North End, lobsters from Gloucester, a classic New England clam bake at the beach, or a traditional Sunday roast; Walker was down to try it all. Coming from a long line of home cooks she puts her abilities to work daily at Saltwater Grill and with the Galveston Restaurant Group catering company. Starting as a server with GRG 20 years ago, she's been able to work her way up through the company, reaching the pinnacle as Executive Chef at Saltwater Grill - honing her skills with each transition. Walker is a two-time Galveston.com "Best of the Island" awards recipient for Best Restaurant Chef, a two-time Galveston Daily News awards recipient for Best Restaurant Chef, and a Texas Restaurant Association awards recipient for Restaurateur of the Year for Galveston County.

ABOUT THE 1928 SALLY TRUEHEART WILLIAMS HOUSE

Cameron Fairchild designed this Mediterranean-style villa for Sally Trueheart Williams to serve as a new residence for her and her mother. The lots previously supported the massive house owned by her father, real estate capitalist Henry Martyn Trueheart (1885, Nicholas Clayton). Building contractor William Roitsch erected Williams’ new residence in the gardens adjacent to the Trueheart mansion. When completed, Williams demolished her childhood home and sold the remaining lots. (Dr. Albert and Willie Dean Singleton House at 1602 Broadway was featured on the 2023 tour and also designed by Cameron Fairchild).
