Start your new year off with a glimpse into the Island’s storied past during this annual event held in January.

Many visitors to Galveston are familiar with the island’s 32 miles of Gulf Coast beaches. Some may not be familiar with the wide variety of museums and attractions in this historic beach town. During Galveston Museum Day, visitors can explore many Galveston museums at special rates.

Galveston Museum Day is an annual event that celebrates the rich cultural and historical heritage of Galveston, Texas. It provides an opportunity for the community to explore various museums and cultural institutions with free or discounted admission.

How do I participate in Galveston Museum Day?

Participating is easy! Choose a museum from the list of participants, claim your official Museum Day passport at the location, and enjoy discounted rates.

Can I visit multiple museums on Galveston Museum Day?

Absolutely! Feel free to visit as many participating museums as you'd like with your official Museum Day passport. When you visit 3 or more you will win a Galveston Island sticker pack and be entered in to WIN a night stay at The Tremont Hotel!

Galveston Museum Day Offer: Free admission

At the Juneteenth Legacy Project Headquarters art gallery, visitors can see the stunning, 5,000 square foot art installation chronicling the emancipation of Black people in Galveston on the outside of the building. Inside, the gallery offers a journey through African American history from the 1800s to present day. The gallery features sculptures and paintings by local Black artists, plus a reflection area. The Juneteenth Legacy Headquarters is located at 22nd and Strand Street.
