Then & Now Bookshop

Then & Now Bookshop is an independent Galveston bookstore featuring new and used books, local titles, gifts and reader-focused events.

Located on Postoffice Street in Historic Downtown Galveston, Then and Now Bookshop carries books across a range of genres, with selections for adults and children. Readers can also browse books about Galveston, works by Galveston authors, staff favorites and book-related gifts and accessories.

The woman-owned business began as a pop-up bookshop in 2023 after its founder retired from a 30-year career as a preschool teacher and librarian. After building a following through pop-ups around the island, Then and Now opened its permanent Postoffice Street shop in October 2024.

Then and Now Bookshop adds an independent bookstore to Galveston's Historic Downtown, giving visitors a place to browse beach reads, children's books and titles connected to the island's history, stories and local authors.
