The Residential 1900 Storm Walking Tour

Over 3600 homes and businesses were destroyed during the 1900 Storm; this walking tour is located in the East End Historic District, starting at Darragh Park. This tour provides an opportunity to see the residential streets where many homes survived the storm, and where many people sought refuge, Tree sculptures will be seen on this historic walking tour as well as they are all that remains of the trees planted by the Women's Group the Women's Health Protective Association in the aftermath of the 1900 storm. The East End Historic District is the neighborhood with the largest quantity of 1900 storm-surviving homes in Galveston, and it is one of the most beautiful Historic neighborhoods in the country.
