The Race of Gentleman
More than a century after automobiles first raced across the sands of Galveston, beach racing returns to East Beach with The Race of Gentlemen (T.R.O.G.), March 5–7, 2027.
The three-day gathering celebrates pre-WWII American automotive and motorcycle culture through vintage machines, craftsmanship and racing. The weekend culminates with two days of automotive and motorcycle beach racing on Saturday, March 6 and Sunday, March 7 at East Beach, located at 1923 Boddeker Road.
Spectators can get an up-close look at purpose-built vintage cars and motorcycles racing along the Gulf Coast. T.R.O.G. race vehicles are hand-selected and built using pre-WWII chassis and engines with period-correct components. The event brings together racers, builders, artists, musicians, families and automotive enthusiasts with a shared appreciation for the history and craftsmanship of early American motorsports.
Galveston has its own connection to that history. Automobile racing arrived on the island in 1909, when races were held on Denver Beach, now known as East Beach. By 1911, Galveston had become a recognized racing destination that attracted competitors and spectators to the island. T.R.O.G. brings that history back to the sand more than a century later.
Additional T.R.O.G. events and activities are planned throughout Galveston on Friday, March 5, before racing begins at East Beach on Saturday and Sunday.
