Those who are interested in hitting the links for 18 holes should plan to reserve a tee time at one of Galveston’s scenic courses.
The recently-renovated Moody Gardens Golf Course is open every day to the public. Golf carts are available and may be included in your fee, and a practice range allows players to warm up before heading to the first hole. You can even go beyond solo practice by scheduling time with a pro: the facility offers both individual lessons and group clinics, which you can book on their website.
Moody Gardens offers no shortage of amenities. If you forget any necessary gear or are looking for a souvenir, make sure to stop by the pro shop, which offers men’s and women’s apparel, golf balls, and hats, among other items. Worked up an appetite after playing the course? Grab a seat at The Pelican Grille, located within the newly remodeled clubhouse, for a quick and tasty breakfast or lunch. Plus, the large banquet hall—an ideal event space—offers catering and a full bar.
Galveston Country Club, Texas’ oldest country club, is located at 14228 Stewart Road and is open from Tuesday through Sunday. Although the on-site golf course is private, some vacation packages allow guests to play at the club, so make sure to check with your hotel concierge or rental agent.
Galveston Country Club offers several amenities beyond golf. There is a pool onsite as well as two tennis courts, and breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served from Tuesday through Sunday, including takeout options.
Driving ranges cater to golfers who are short on time or just want to dedicate time to improving their swing. These facilities will typically allow you to purchase a bucket of balls and hit them one by one.
Tin Cup's Caddy Shack, located at 9020 Stewart Road, is a driving range and full-service bar. Want to work on your short game as well as your long game? Tin Cup’s also has a large putting green. Then, when you’re finished golfing, set aside some time to relax on the spacious deck and listen to live music.
If you’re on the hunt for family fun, there are few better ways to spend a day or evening than on a miniature golf course.
