The 26th Annual Grand Kids Festival - celebrating children, families and folk art – will take center stage in Galveston’s historic downtown Cultural Arts District - on Saturday, April 30, 2022, from 10AM to 5PM.

The 26th Annual Grand Kids Festival - celebrating children, families and folk art – will take center stage in Galveston’s historic downtown Cultural Arts District - on Saturday, April 30, 2022, from 10AM to 5PM. Presented by The Grand 1894 Opera House, this one-of-a-kind family event will take place on Postoffice Street - between 20th and 23rd streets. This year’s theme is “Texas Western.” Admission is free.

Created and presented as a venue to engage children and their families in the arts, the Festival will include a variety of activities for the young and the young at heart. Festival-goers can look forward to grand live performances and entertainment on four outdoor stages, as well as an exciting variety of fun, family-friendly activities - including new entertainment this year: Cowboy Doug demonstrating his roping skills; Houston children’s musical artist, Uncle Jumbo; and the amazing troupe - Great Promise for American Indians – showcasing traditions, unique stories and literally making their “history come alive” through song and dance.

Also, back by popular demand this Spring will be Chalk It Up Island Style! – a street art competition; Roaring Entertainment RC Cars, and the Southwest Mobile Dairy Classroom. Additional fun activities throughout the 3-block Festival area include pony rides, a petting zoo, a variety of unique, hands-on activities; story-tellers, and so much more.

One of the special highlights of the 26th annual Grand Kids Festival will be the Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) production of Johnny Appleseed. Featuring 50-60 local/area students who auditioned for their roles, performances will be presented on stage at The Grand 1894 Opera House, 2020 Postoffice Street. Performance times are 11AM and 1PM.
