What to Expect

Galveston Local Days are back! From May 5–10, in celebration of National Travel and Tourism Week, Galveston residents are invited to experience the island like a visitor with free or BOGO admission to participating attractions.

This week is about more than fun—it’s a reminder of how tourism supports our community. Local Days are a chance to reconnect with the places that bring travelers to our shores, show support for the businesses that fuel our economy, and rediscover what makes Galveston so special.

Note: Bring a valid ID or proof of residency to participate.

Free Admission Offers

Offer: Exhibit in the carriage house of the 1859 Ashton Villa is FREE on Friday and Saturday during Local Days to Galveston residents.

Offer: [Always] FREE admission plus Galveston residents can provide their address and get a special discount code: LOCALS2025.

With the discount code LOCALS2025, they will have the ability to register for any active classes and workshops and receive the GAC-member discount.

The discount code and registration will be available all week.

Local Days will culminate with May ArtWalk. GAC will host a mini locals market from 4 to 9 PM for ArtWalk.

Offer: FREE parking and admission on Monday, Wednesday, Friday (5th, 7th and 9th), 10AM - 4PM.
There will be prizes (while they last) for visitors who play the new, free scavenger hunt game using their cell phone.

Rediscover your Library during Galveston Local Days! We currently have our exhibition "Weathering The Storm" on display until September, which features the connection between Juneteenth and the 1900 Storm, while commemorating both milestone anniversaries.

Finally, we are thrilled to announce that Rosenberg Library is an official destination of May's Art Walk (May 10) where we will host the grand opening of acclaimed children's author and illustrator Jason Chin's "Your Place In The Universe" exhibit. There's always something exciting happening at Rosenberg Library!

The City of Galveston will be hosting an open house at the Garten Verein in Kempner Park.

Come and tour this iconic building and hear about its past and discuss its future with the City of Galveston’s Parks and Recreation and Arts and Culture Coordinator.

Mindfulness Meditation with Anita Simco, limited mats, unlimited class size, please bring your own mat, blanket, or chair. This class is not a physical exercise class and can be done by ALL ages and abilities.
Friday, May 9; 12-1PM
Lunch and learn with the Antoinette Perry Lynch, Arts and Culture Coordinator, City of Galveston. An open invitation to artists, arts organizations, arts enthusiasts, patrons, and the arts curious. Bring a brown bag lunch and a blanket or chairs and join a group discussion about the Arts in Galveston. Bring your cards and/or flyers and a desire to share (ideas and information, not your lunch)
