Local Author Book Signing at Then & Now Bookshop
Local writer and artist Elena Sandovici, author of Storms of Malhado and other beloved historical novels set on Galveston Island, and founder of Horse Week, will be at the Then & Now Bookshop (2118 Postoffice Street) meeting with readers and signing copies of her books. Sandovici’s best known novel, with over 10,000 copies sold, entitled Storms of Malhado, spans three different historical eras punctuated by major storms. Delving deep into Galveston’s history with the help of a cast of rather misguided characters stuck in a destiny loop, the novel celebrates our island’s resilience and capacity for reinvention. Other beloved books by the same author: The Glory Days of Aimée Bonnard, set in Galveston’s Red Light District circa 1898, Galveston 1922, Lola Is Never Drinking Again, and the recent Breakaway Bridesmaid. Come meet the author, get your signed copies, and maybe, if you’re lucky, she’ll tell you if the story about the horses is true.
