Humbaba's Rebuttal: Live Theatre at Naked Iguana Brewery
Experience an evening of original live theatre in downtown Galveston as Sandbar Productions presents Humbaba's Rebuttal, a musical and theatrical retelling of one of the world's oldest stories.
Inspired by the ancient Epic of Gilgamesh, this production offers a fresh perspective on the legendary tale by giving the monster a chance to tell his side of the story. Through powerful performances, original music, and mythological storytelling, Humbaba's Rebuttal challenges audiences to reconsider what makes someone a hero or a monster.
Written by Joseph Machado and directed by Fox Maisel, the production features performances by Neil Murphy, Keeley Dunnam, Joseph Machado, and Aaron Stephens. Live music is provided by Paulo Castillo, Michael Quast, JJ Hernandez, and Jake Williams.
Performances take place on Thursday, October 15, Sunday, November 8, and Sunday, November 22, 2026, at the Naked Iguana Brewery Beer Garden, located at 1828 Strand Street in Galveston's Historic Downtown District. The October 15 performance begins at 7 PM.
Admission is free, making this an opportunity to experience local theatre in an intimate brewery setting. Guests are encouraged to arrive early to find seating and enjoy a drink before the performance.
