5th Annual Galveston Island Turkey Trot 5K
Start your Thanksgiving morning with a scenic run or walk along the Galveston Island Seawall at the 5th Annual Galveston Island Turkey Trot on Thursday, November 26, 2026. This festive 5K welcomes runners and walkers of all experience levels to enjoy beautiful Gulf Coast views while celebrating the holiday with family and friends.
The race begins at 7:30 AM and follows a flat, out-and-back course along the Seawall. Participants are encouraged to dress in their favorite Thanksgiving costumes and enjoy a fun morning of fitness on the island. After crossing the finish line, stick around for a post-race celebration at Menard Park behind the McGuire-Dent Recreation Center. An awards ceremony will take place at 8:45 AM, recognizing top finishers in overall, masters, and age group categories.
The event benefits HART Training Programs, a local nonprofit dedicated to promoting health and fitness through running and walking. HART supports community wellness initiatives, free fitness events, and programs that encourage active lifestyles throughout the Galveston area.
Registration for the 5K is $55 for general participants and $40 for children ages 4–10. Advance packet pickup will be available Wednesday, November 25, from 10 AM to 6 PM at Galveston Island Running Co., located at 518 23rd Street.
