This Galveston bar has a customer base made up primarily of local regulars, yet the bartenders and patrons are friendly to tourists and newcomers as well. There is a bit of a Tiki Bar theme going on and the front patio gives you a decent view of the beach and Gulf of Mexico. There are no fancy craft beers sold here, just the usual domestics, a few Mexican beers and some Shiner Bock and Lone Star. There is no kitchen at Safari, but on most Sundays and some Saturdays employees make food like chicken and dumplings, Frito Pies, pork roast, chicken wings to give out to customers, or have an occasional crawfish boil. Customers can bring in food as well, and many often bring enough to share. Safari is one of those cool places that still has a CD jukebox; it is loaded with blues, classic rock, and old-school country hits.
