Following the ceremonial gathering, a special commemorative ceremony was held at The Great Storm statue near 47th Street, featuring remarks from Mayor Craig Brown, Col. David Dake of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Dwayne Jones of the Galveston Historical Foundation, and a presentation from GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ representative.
This powerful event supported Galveston’s effort to earn official recognition for the Longest Walkway in the World, highlighting the historic importance of the Seawall as both a coastal defense and a symbol of the city’s resilience.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this tribute possible. Your presence helped us honor the past while showing the strength of our community today.
