Galveston Island Seawall Claims Guinness World Record
Galveston is preparing to make history. On September 6, our beloved Seawall will be officially awarded the Guinness World Record for the Longest Contiguous Walkway in the United States, stretching 7.3 miles along the sparkling Gulf.
Built after the devastating Great Storm of 1900, the Seawall has stood for 125 years as both protection and a place for connection. This milestone year makes the upcoming recognition even more meaningful for our community.
For generations, the Seawall has been where we walk, run, ride, celebrate, and reflect. Soon, it will hold a place in the Guinness World Records, adding a new chapter to Galveston’s story of resilience and pride.
Let’s rise together, Galveston, as we celebrate our history, honor our spirit, and step into the record books.
