Women in Coastal Science Speaker Series
Spend a morning at East Beach learning about coastal science and the people working to protect the environments that make the Gulf Coast unique. The Women in Coastal Science Speaker Series returns to East Beach Park Pavilion on Friday, August 21, 2026, featuring Kelsea Hiebert, Environmental Project Manager with Balcones Field Services.
Guests can enjoy complimentary coffee and breakfast snacks beginning at 9:30 a.m. before the presentation starts at 10 a.m. Hiebert will share her career journey in environmental science, her passion for coastal and marine environments, and the experiences that brought her back to Galveston Island.
A graduate of Texas A&M University at Galveston, Hiebert began her career on the Island and has nearly a decade of experience in environmental permitting and regulatory compliance. Her work has taken her to projects across the Gulf Coast and beyond, where she has helped balance infrastructure development with the protection of wetlands, coastal habitats, and other natural resources. After nearly a decade away, Hiebert and her family have returned to Galveston.
The presentation runs from 10 to 11 a.m. at East Beach Park Pavilion. The event is free and open to the public, offering visitors and locals an opportunity to learn more about coastal science while spending the morning at one of Galveston Island’s beachfront parks.
