The Path to Jazz with Danny Wellington
Join bandleader Dandy Wellington for a discussion on slavery’s impact on spiritual music, how many of those songs found their way into the jazz canon, and the origins of spiritual music in a secular setting. Virtual tickets are available for guests who want to view the livestream but are not members. A link with instructions on viewing will be sent before the event.
This presentation, both in-person and live-streamed, is available free of charge for all Galveston Historical Foundation members as part of their #GalvestonHistory+ account. Access will start at 11:15 AM on the day of the presentation. Tickets are non-refundable to this event.
