Texas Navy Association July 4th Wreath Laying Ceremony
Here’s a revised version of the event description with improved flow and clarity:
About the Event
On the morning of July 4, the Texas Navy Association will host its annual wreath laying ceremony to honor those who have served in the Texas Navy and the U.S. Merchant Marine. The ceremony recognizes the sacrifices made for American independence, past and present, and includes brief remarks celebrating the freedoms we enjoy today.
Wreaths will be placed at two historic monuments in Galveston:
9:00 – 9:30 AM at Pier 21
Honoring the First Texas Navy, the U.S. Merchant Marine, the U.S. Navy Armed Guard, and the U.S. Army Transport Service during WWII.
10:00 – 10:30 AM at McGuire-Dent Park
Located at 27th Street and Seawall Boulevard, this stop commemorates the Second Texas Navy (1836–1845).
Both ceremonies are free and open to the public.
