Ocean on Tap: A Dive Into the Deep Sea
First Thursday of the month with rotating presenters and topics.
We are excited to launch Ocean on Tap, a new science communication seminar series on Galveston Island. The series highlights the diversity of marine science topics while creating an informal, welcoming space that makes science accessible to the broader community. Talks will range from local research and conservation efforts to broader ocean issues, with occasional discussions that connect science to everyday life.
Our goal is to share the research, discoveries, and stories happening right here along our coast and to foster meaningful connections between scientists and residents through open conversation and curiosity about the ocean.
Join us for our inaugural Ocean on Tap at Galveston Island Brewing.
Take a dive into the deep with Sasha Francis. Experience science at sea as we connect with experts on a NOAA ship during the presentation. These experts are working to restore deep-sea habitats injured by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. See the amazing corals, fishes and more that live deep in the Gulf and how underwater robots and other technology help make this restoration possible hundreds to thousands of feet below the surface. Learn what it's like to work at sea and connect with the experts.
