"Looking Back" Brown Bag Lecture Series
Make plans to join us at Nia Cultural Center while we celebrate our history through our "Looking Back" Brown Bag Lecture Series, which will feature June Collins Pulliam to highlight, "Island Family: From Juneteenth Through The 21st Century."
June Collins Pulliam, a fifth generation Galvestonian (B.S. Music Therapy - Texas Woman’s University, M.A. Behavioral Sciences - Univ. of Houston at Clear Lake) recently completed 15 years as Executive Director of Fanfare! Lutheran Music Academy and now is providing independent music instruction as June Pulliam Music!
In her spare time, June serves as volunteer executive director for the Galveston Heritage Chorale and is an active board member of the Nia Cultural Center, Galveston Symphony Orchestra (past president), the UTMB Community Advisory Board, Act3 Galveston Advisory Board, and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta, the Galveston United Juneteenth Alliance, the Rotary Club of Galveston, and Galveston Musical Club, and serves as a weekly online worship host for The Fellowship Church of Texas City.
She has also been featured as a Galveston Black history historian on MSNBC, CNBC, NPR, Fox 26, the Houston Chronicle, Click2Houston/KPRC Houston, WPLG-10 ABC Miami, et al. over the past 5 years.
