The 11th Annual Albatross Old Smokey Throwdown returns Saturday July 12th at 21st and Ball Street. 🔥🔥🔥

- Bacon Open – any dish, just make sure it includes bacon!
This is a free event to attend so spread the word that anyone can stroll through and watch the magic happen!
🕒 Schedule of Events
8:00 AM – Street Closure
10:00 AM – Check-in & turn-in containers available at judging tent
12:30 PM – Chicken Wings turn-in & judging
2:00–5:00 PM – Live music by Keith Neubauer
2:20 PM – Beef Fajitas turn-in
3:50 PM – Bacon Open turn-in
5:30 PM – Awards Ceremony
🔴 Competition Rules & Info
The City of Galveston will not be closing the street until at 8am.
- All entries must be cooked on a stock, unmodified Old Smokey grill. Please only Old Smokeys.
- Teams may bring multiple Old Smokeys, but no other grills allowed.
- NO gas or electric fires are allowed. No holes, open fires, or dug pits will be allowed.
- Teams must bring a fire extinguisher.
- No garnishing or foil allowed inside turn-in containers.
- Sauces are allowed—cook with it or pour it on, just make it tasty.
- No foil inside containers.
- Food safety and cleanliness are a must. Unsanitary conditions can result in disqualification.
Judging is double-blind. Each team will receive foam trays with matching numbered tickets. Winners must present their matching ticket at the awards ceremony to claim prizes.
📋 Entry Info
- Team = 1 chief cook + up to 4 assistants
- Spots are $75 each (limit 6 per teams)
- Official start time: once your setup is complete
