There was a time when Galveston was known as the Wall Street of the Southwest. Like New Orleans, Galveston grew as a city because of its natural harbor, making it a center for commerce and business. The 1900 Storm and other economic challenges changed that until visionaries, like George P. Mitchell and the Galveston Historical Foundation, saved and restored these historic buildings to revive and create a thriving historic downtown.

During this 90-minute walking tour you'll hear about the history of Galveston and what has made this historic downtown a "go-to" for visitors again.
