Artist Boat
Artist Boat
A nonprofit that connects people with coastal habitats through art and science-based experiences on Galveston Island.
Founded in 2003, this organization offers unique programs that blend environmental education with hands-on creativity. Guided kayak tours, public art projects, and youth programs highlight the importance of protecting Galveston’s delicate ecosystems. Participants engage directly with the island’s wetlands, prairies, and beaches while learning about conservation.
Artist Boat began with co-founder Karla Klay’s vision to link environmental stewardship and creative expression. Since then, it has grown into a community leader in conservation, restoring coastal habitats and inspiring thousands of students and visitors each year.
