Bring a T-shirt (or any flat article of clothing; cotton or linen blends work best) and personalize it with a design you carve and print by hand.
Join printmaker Becca Hovey for this three-hour, beginner-friendly workshops to create unique textile designs by hand.
Block printing is a popular contemporary art form that has its roots in ancient times. This method allows you to easily reproduce line or shape-based drawings onto fabric or paper as many times as you want. We will be using Speedy-Carve® soft rubber printing blocks, sharpie markers, and a variety of gauges, knives and scoops to stamps to create a printable surface similar to a rubber stamp. Then, using colored inks specially formulated for use on fabric, after doing few test prints on paper, you’ll hand-print onto your item to take home.
